3D cubes compose 6 differents images in Papervision

I just saw this great ACDC Vs Iron Man 2 - Architectural Projection Mapping on Rochester Castle and I had some kind of experiment that looked just like those animated cubes at the end of the projection (well not exactly the same, but it looks alike).

You can drag the stage to change the angle of the view. All cubes are animated in a kind of "Transformer" manner : they change x, y & z positions when recomposing a new image. All images are split at runtime, and then used as BitmapMaterial on cubes, so it makes it easy to switch from one image to another !

So here it is , updated with a few pictures of the upcoming movie ! Hope you like, and feel free to comment !

*** UPDATE : added a version with very big pictures, just for the sake of the experiment, need a large screen, or very high res, and a good CPU ! it's here

  1. This is pretty amazing. Good work dude, pretty sure this can’t work as good in HTML5

  2. Thanks Dominic, I don’t know about HTML5, coz’ MrDoob stoked me with his javascript 3D engine, and the cube in the demo was running very well. I don’t know though how advanced the features for the materials are… And how it would work with multiple instances. And as he pointed out also there is no tween engine for javascript yet .. But still the evolution is very fast for this new thing.

  3. Salut Fred,
Vraiment cool ces cubes. En plus c’est rapide et efficace.
